This annual festival is for old and young alike and it brings with it many special events throughout Wakulla County; the Friends are partnering with many others to present this annual extravaganza that celebrates the wildlife's Spring return.. A Taste of the Coast
The Main Event does not disappoint, consisting of restaurant tastings and art auction. Restaurants from Port St. Joe, St. Joe Beach, Apalachicola, Mexico Beach and Wewahitchka offer samples of their featured menu items. A cash bar will be available. Local artists as well as those from surrounding states donate fantastic artwork that is presented in the silent and live auctions. Photography, pottery, hand woven objects, and paintings are donated for the auctions. Also featured are signed first editions by a diverse selection of authors. We promise to welcome, feed and entertain you at this event and if you desire, send you home with new art and books.

6th Annual Kid's Win Fishing Tournament
The Kid's Win Fishing Tournament has become one of Port St. Joe's most anticipated events. Kids from all around come for a day of fun on the water and in the sun. The event exposes youngsters to the excitement of fishing in a fun and safe environment. The event is open to children ages 3 through 16, with the registrants receiving a new rod & reel, tackle box, t-shirt, and goodie bag, so kids win just by entering.

Florida Master Naturalist Freshwater Wetlands Course
This course consists of 40 contact hours, which includes about 20 hours of classroom presentations, instructional videos, interpretive speaking practice and completion of group projects; and about 20 hours of field trips. Through classroom, field trip and practical experiences, learn about Floridas Natural Freshwater Wetland Systems: Marshes, Swamps, Rivers, Lakes, and Springs.
Students receive a Certificate of Completion, Embroidered Patch, Wetlands lapel pin, and comprehensive two-volume FMNP Freshwater Wetland Systems Student Workbook.

Stephen C. Smith Memorial Regatta
The 35th Annual Stephen C. Smith Memorial Regatta is the largest and longest running regatta in the Big Bend area of Florida. Held at Shell Point Beach, the Regatta The SCSMR is for the benefit of the American Cancer Society in memory of Stephen Smith, a local sailor who died from a rare form of leukemia at the age of 29.

Beach Blast Sprint Distance Triathlon/Duathlon
All 4 races start at the same time, at the same spot. Swimmers and runners (after the first run on the beach) will follow the same course to T1, on the bike, T2, and run. Participants of Sprint distance races will turn around on the bike and run before Olympic participants will. Having 4 races at once makes Beach Blast a unique event and great destination for a weekend on the beach!

2008 marks the 16th year Historic Trinity Episcopal Church Spring Tour of Historic Homes. Many of Apalachicola's private homes and buildings can only be viewed from the exterior except for this unique day. For a $12.00 donation you can take a guided tour through architecturally and historically significant homes, churches and commercial buildings. All donations benefit the Trinity Episcopal Restoration Fund.

33rd Blue Crab Festival
For over thirty years, the Annual Panacea Blue Crab Festival is one of the largest such festivals on Florida's northern Gulf Coast. The festivities begin with a morning parade on the Coastal Highway 98. Demonstrations and contests are held, including crab picking, crab trap pulling and a mullet toss, with one of the largest fireworks display in the region for a concluding event.

17th Annual Tupelo Festival
For more than a century Wewahitchka area residents have been gathering Tupelo (quite possibly the world's finest honey) in the Apalachicola River basin. Each spring the northern Gulf County community of Wewahitchka holds a Tupelo Festival. Volunteers hand out "sweet on you" stickers and Tupelo samples to festival attendees. The agricultural extension office and 4-H club provide pamphlets and everyone has a delightful down-home time beneath the canopy of oak trees at Lake Alice Park in "Wewa." Arts, crafts, food and entertainment from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm central time.

Big Bend Saltwater Classic Fishing Tournament
Carrabelle Big Bend Fishing Tournament Largest non-profit saltwater fishing tournament (700-900 competitors) in Northwest Florida. Father's Day Weekend Thousands in prizes and cash. Adult & youth divisions. Individual and team competition. The Classic may be the fastest growing tournament in Florida, if not the entire Southeast. Since its first year (1989), participation in the Classic has jumped nearly 375 percent. The tournament now ranks among the top six saltwater fishing tournaments, in terms of numbers of participants, in Florida, according to Florida Sportsman magazine.

The Historic Apalachicola Christmas Celebration will light up Apalachicola from 4:30-8:00 p.m. the streets of downtown Apalachicola will be lined with luminaries and filled with holiday spirit.
